Fostering Technologists Who Can Be Active on the World Stage through a Unique Education and Research System That Fuses Tradition and Innovation
The Faculty of Science and Technology boasts a long history of 87 years. Building on the foundations of a well-developed teaching system, we operate a cutting-edge, forward-looking educational program. Through this program, students acquire a broad-based education, along with specialized knowledge and the ability to apply what they have learned as working members of society. The faculty provides on-site, hands-on education that encompasses a range of experiments and investigations. We also offer programs that give students first-hand experience of conventional machining processes. In view of the above, our aim is to foster engineers who can use their creativity to pioneer new fields.
Departmental Information
Department of Mathematics
This department offers a broad foundation in algebra, analysis, geometry, mathematical analysis of information, and computer science that allows students to describe phenomena mathematically and develop problem-solving abilities.
Department of Information Engineering
Our department covers the growing and diversified field of computing. Students learn the fundamentals of computer engineering and information systems and gain the skills to play a productive role as information engineers.
Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering
This department offers two courses: an electrical engineering course that trains specialists in electrical energy and nanotechnology; and an electronic systems course that trains specialists in robot control, information communications, and embedded systems.
Department of Materials Science and Engineering
Students learn about a wide range of technologies that contribute to society, including functional materials, mechanical materials, composite materials, biomaterials, and cutting-edge materials such as LEDs, compound semiconductors, and carbon nano-tubes.
Department of Applied Chemistry
Study is focused on the three areas of synthetic chemistry, matter/materials chemistry, and environmental/energy materials. From the perspective of chemistry, we aim to contribute to building a society that exists harmoniously with the natural environment.
Department of Mechanical Engineering
Mechanical engineering, forms the foundation for all industry and is taught in a step-by-step manner to help students understand the overall principles. By acquiring both basic and applied technical knowledge, students become skilled engineers with a high level of intellectual capability who can support the world of manufacturing.
Department of Vehicle and Mechanical Engineering
By studying transportation machines such as automobiles, aircraft, railway vehicles, and marine vessels, students acquire basic and applied technical knowledge of mechanical engineering, which enables them to contribute to the development of the manufacturing industry.
Department of Mechatronics Engineering
Our department focuses on mechatronics, a domain that integrates electrics and mechanics (e.g., in electric vehicles). Programs are divided into three knowledge-deepening areas: electrics/electronics, mechanics, and medicine/nano-biotechnology.
Department of Civil Engineering
This department offers two courses: an urban planning course and a social infrastructure course. We aim to produce graduates who are equipped to create safe and comfortable communities and environmentally friendly infrastructure.
Department of Environmental Science and Technology
In this department, we study the natural environment--specifically, the atmosphere, hydrosphere, and geosphere. We also explore subjects related to the urban/living environment, such as environmental design. Students acquire the knowledge and skills to become engineers engaged in environmental matters.
Department of Environmental Technology
Department of Architecture
As well as gaining understanding and skills in architecture, students deepen their knowledge of the arts and culture and become well versed in the fields of urban planning and the living environment. Graduates of this department become architects and architectural engineers who can create appealing buildings and urban landscapes.
