A short-term lecture was delivered to third-year students at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, UTC in Vietnam, a partner of Meijo University. This lecture was included in the contents of the exchange program conducted in the 2019 Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)*1 between Meijo University and UTC. This was the fourth lecture, following the first and second lectures*2 given in February and the third*3 in September 2023. Furthermore, Dr. Nguyen Anh Duc (Lecturer, Vietnam Maritime University), who completed our university’s doctoral program, in September 2023, supported these lectures (interpreting from English to Vietnamese). *1 An extension of the MOU was concluded in 2024 *2 Meijo University News: /news/detail_28487.html *3 Meijo University News: /news/detail_29265.html A short-term lecture entitled “Environmental consideration and resource circulation of construction materials in Japan,” was presented at UTC. As typified by concrete, the second most widely used substance in the world after water, environmental consideration and recycling of construction materials are important issues with respect to their environmental impact. In particular, global sustainability cannot be achieved without realizing carbon neutrality and a circular economy (CE). This lecture aimed to present the current state of affairs in Japan and consider the environmental load on the globe.
